CD Burning Business

Wednesday, March 30th, 2005

My CD burning business will come to a halt this summer. I don’t have enough money to spend on those materials needed in burning. I lost more money in buying CD’s, PC use and electricity fees and my returned profit is not enough to compensate them. To relieve this, I must put it on a stand still and probably make more plans on how am I able to change the way I do business. Printing services are still available, as well as the posters (if there are any).

The website is untouched for a year now, and I don’t think I am able to update it. Well anyways here is the website http://expressionista.bravehost .com .

Downloads_splash_probasicThe New Ultimate Messenger!

At last, I’ve discovered a new instant messaging software, the Trillian. Actually I’ve downloaded this software last night after watching digital tour on studio 23 at exactly 10:30 pm. Before the show ends, I immediately go to the website and download the software. It’s very nice and very functional for individuals like me who has more than two IM accounts. I’m able to merge all of my contacts from different accounts all to a single Instant messaging software. For those of you who haven’t heard of Trillian and for those people who are addicted to the world of instant messaging, I recommend you try this.

Freedom Ship: Engineering the impossible.
www.freedomship.com

Yeah, you heard me right. I did’nt know that someone can actually build a city in a ship. I was searching the internet for something until I thought about the largest ship ever builtBow_low recently. Queen Mary  2 was currently the largest cruise ship in the world. Typing my search into Google, I expect that QM2 will appear as the winner. The search results were "Freedom Ship". What the hell is freedom ship and why it appeared first than the others? I click the link and say’s that it is an engineering breakthrough, a city that floats on the ocean. At first, my mind tells me that this thing is a hoax. I searched Google again for Freedom Ship. Surprisingly, it hasMiddle_low many results, from it’s main website to Discovery Channel. I said, "Wow", I couldn’t believe that humans have gone this far. It houses residential and commercial spaces. It has a shopping mall, parks, a univeristy, large hospital and many more to offer. The best thing about the freedom ship is that it has an air strip above that enables light aircrafts and helicopters to land. This ship is indeed like a mobile city to me. The Freedom ship will cruise around the world, completing one revolution in 3 years touring most of the world’s coastlines.

Holy Week!

Thursday, March 24th, 2005

Bored….

It’s holy week and I’m enjoying my few days of vacation. Not from out of town, though. I’m stranded here in my house, seems like there’s nowhere to go. Hanging out in front of my PC and surf the net for a long freakin’ hours until my eyes dries up. Sheesh! After that, I spend most of my time watching TV and VCD’s. I still haven’t registered to Video City so I, too, can rent original copies of local and foreign movies.

Earlier that day….

We fetched my mom together with my dad on the pier in Manila. We left home at exactly 2:30 a.m. and arrived there an hour later. We expected that the ship will arrive at 4 am, but delays make it to 6 am. The ship was sailing at a slow speed. We’ll at least my mom safely arrived from her trip from Romblon.

At last, I can blog again.

Friendster glitch

Finally, I can create and post a blog again. Friendster changes the background color to green with green leaf beside the logo. From that day, my menu changed as well. There was no chat and blogs menu, it was that typical earlier version of friendster that contains it’s basic menus. I try to log-out and log-in again but nothing. I can’t find a way to create a post because all I know is that you can access it on the Blogs menu. But this day, they’ve fixed the problem.

Nina’s Live Album

Tuesday, March 15th, 2005

NinaliveI was on the bus that day going to school when I saw Nina live in Unang Hirit. She talks about her new album "Nina Live" to be released on February. After some talks, Nina sang one of her songs in the album, it was "Anything For You". As she was singing, I looked to the other passengers faces as well as their reactions. They all looked up and somewhat been overwhelmed by her sweet voice. "Wow", said to myself. During that moment, I’m thinking if I should purchase a copy… the original one. Then Saturday that week, I left the school early and went to Music One in Greenbelt to buy a copy. It was only P280 pesos, but it’s all worth it. I also supported Edu Manzano’s drive against piracy. Hehe! I hurriedly went to the bus terminal so I can play it on my audio system. There’s was a delay afterwards when the bus I’m into suddenly caught malfunctions. I arrived home exhausted because of standing inside the bus. All that was gone when I’ve started playing Nina’s CD. She was an Gods-sent angel, her voice is so tremendously beautiful.

Elmo’s Tip: Skin your Windows!

Skinning Windows

I like the graphical user interface of Windows since it’s version of Windows 95. The way I see, it is very neat and user friendly. Giving you a classic yet functional operating system. The years gone by and Microsoft had released Windows 98, ME, 2000 and it’s latest Windows XP. The difference of XP’s GUI from it’s predecessors is the make-over of the shell of Windows. It’s GUI is streamlined and yet still have it’s user friendliness look and functionality. Normally, XP came with three skins for you to change the shell’s color. Accessing them from the Display Properties same from it’s earlier version.

But what if you’re bored and wondering if there are downloadable software out in the internet that can change or add another skin color to Windows XP.

Windowblinds by Wincustomize
www.wincustomize.com

Recently, there are many websites that let you download their software that can change Windows XP shell. Not just the color but a complete new makeover, better from that of Windows XP.

I came to this website a couple of years ago while I was searching for a particular software  It was Windowsblinds from Wncustomize. At first I read all the features and if that software is compatible with my current OS. I find it quite convincing and started downloading the software.

Result

It is so amazing! You can actually change everything from the startbar, taskbar, title bar.. every aspect of the Windows shell can be changed. Except that it is not free though. But don’t worry, they have a free downloadable software, a limited edition. The free Windowblinds skins the most common shell interfaces but not all. In order to do so, you must order the full version.

Wincustomize website also contains software that can add pizzaz to your desktop. They have Bootskin that let’s you change your XP bootskin safely, Desktop X that lets you place objects in your desktop and many more…

Pinoy Blog # 2. Sikreto ng Yahoo Messenger!

Thursday, March 10th, 2005

Heres the tip:

Now, para malaman kung sino naka-invisible mode, follow these steps below:

  1. Punta ka sa mail.yahoo.com
  2. Log in ka
  3. Click mo ung down arrow ng Addresses Tab between Mail and Calendar tabs to bring down the menu
  4. Hanapin ang "View Contacts" at i-click
  6. Malalaman mo na kung may pagkakaiba.

NOTE: There’s no guarantee that the above mentioned scenarios are always effective.

Headlines ngayong Marso 10, 2005 Huwebes

Hello! (kamusta - in Filipino...hehe). Mistulang nilagyan ng barikada ang aming bahay, courtesy of my Dad. Pano kumpleto kagamitan… welding machine, pangputol ng bakal, etc. Hehe!

(puchang ena…hehehe)

Protect your PC from unwanted threats!

Wednesday, March 9th, 2005

Here’s some of my tips on how to protect your PC from spyware, viruses, hackers and other internet-related threats:

  • Must have softwares on your PC
  1. A software firewall
  2. An anti-virus program
  3. An anti-spyware removal tool

Firewall
On my PC, I have a hardware and a software firewall. I believe you have a better protection if you have both types of firewalls.

  • Zone Alarm - one my my best choice to protect my PC from hackers. The great thing about this software is that you cn download it free. It includes email integration, privacy options and anti-virus monitor to monitor if your anti-virus is updated or not.

Anti-virus
I have a Norton Antivirus 2005 installed on my PC. I find it very effective as it protects me realtime in the background without manually scanning files that I download from the internet. It includes worm detection, an anti-spam program and instant messaging integration for greater security.

Anti-Spyware
I have two anti-spyware programs, Lavasoft’s Ad-Aware and Spybot’s Search And Destroy. Both of these software proved to be effective in removing sypwares and adwares. But not all of the pests are removed. You must update them to acquire new signatures in order to detect new variants on spywares and adwares.
I also use Javacool’s Spywareblaster, a program that puts a list of web sites onto my web browser to be blocked. Only Internet Explorer and Firefox are supported by the software. This software prevents me to go to the websites that contains spywares and adwares that unconciously be downloaded onto my system.

Other Software:

WinPatrol
This software, when installed, guards my PC from system changes. It monitors startup programs that automatically loads when windows starts up. Thus, alarming you if a legitimate program wants to add itself onto the start-up and stop those programs that are suspicous. It monitors your browser’s start-up page to prevent them from modification commonly done by spywares.
